Land Development
Position Statement
On December 10, 2025, the GCOLA Board adopted a Gull Lake Chain land development position statement which reflects the mission and strategic priorities of our association. Many of these points could be relevant considerations for any lakeside development and will be updated based on specific plans, including Waterside Estates, as they are formalized and submitted to any government entity for review.
- All aspects of a project should be evaluated, at a minimum, for any adverse impact on:
- Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) introduction
- Water quality
- Shoreland preservation
- Existing wildlife populations
- Boat safety
- Any existing conservation easement should remain intact.
- All phases planned for a development should be included in a comprehensive and thorough Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) or Environmental Impact Statement to the extent required by Minnesota Law.
- Project consistency with all existing state, county and city ordinances must be evaluated and required.
- No additional boat launches should be allowed on the Gull Lake Chain.
